Does NEMT Software Support Multiple Brokers at Once?
By Pulse | October 26, 2026 | 6 min read

Yes. Multi broker NEMT software pulls trips from every broker you work with onto one schedule, so your dispatcher stops logging into three portals every morning.
The catch is that supporting several brokers and being connected to yours are two different claims. Only one of them helps you. Ask which of your specific brokers a platform connects to today, and how.
THE SHORT ANSWER
Yes, if it connects to your brokers. Pulse integrates with MAS, Sentry, ModivCare and MTM.
What Does Multi Broker NEMT Software Actually Do?

It takes trips from several sources and puts them in one place, then sends status back to each source separately. In practice that means four jobs:
1 Import trips from each broker automatically
2 Show them on one schedule, whatever the source
3 Send pickup and drop-off status back to the right broker
4 Keep each broker’s rates and rules attached to its own trips
That last one is the part owners underestimate. Two brokers paying different rates for the same journey need to stay separate all the way through to billing.
Done properly, your dispatcher sees one day of work rather than three separate lists, and nobody has to remember which portal a trip came from.
Integration or Just Import?

There is a real difference, and vendors blur it.
A direct integration connects to the broker’s system, pulls trips as they are assigned, and pushes status back automatically. A file import means someone downloads a spreadsheet and uploads it. Both get trips into the system. Only one saves your morning.
Three questions to ask about every broker you use:
- Is this a live connection or a file upload?
- Does status flow back automatically, or do we still update the portal?
- Who fixes it when the connection breaks?
The third question is the one nobody asks until something breaks on a Friday afternoon. Get a name, not a support address.
Why Run Several Brokers?
Concentration is the biggest commercial risk in NEMT. If one broker sends most of your volume, its contract decisions become your business plan, and you find out late.
Federal rules let states run brokerage programs and require them to select brokers competitively and audit them, under 42 CFR 440.170. Contracts change hands, and providers tied to a single broker feel it hardest.
Two brokers is a different business from one. Three is steadier again. Without the right software, each new broker adds another portal, another manual process and another chance to miss a trip.
It also changes what you can say yes to. When adding a broker costs you nothing operationally, a smaller contract becomes worth taking.
What Gets Harder With More Brokers?
More brokers means more rules to track.
- Different rates for ambulatory, wheelchair and mileage
- Different pickup windows and on-time definitions
- Different no-show and cancellation procedures
- Different reporting formats and deadlines
- Different credentialing and vehicle inspection requirements
One published state provider manual, for example, defines on time as within 15 minutes of the scheduled pickup and requires cancellations to be reported by noon the following day. Another broker will define both differently.
Good software holds those differences for you. Weak software makes your dispatcher remember them, and people forget under pressure.
What to Test in a Demo
Four things, using your own broker files rather than a sample account.
- Import trips from two different brokers into the same day
- Show both on one schedule and assign them to the same van
- Complete a trip and show status returning to the correct broker
- Produce a report split by broker
If a platform can do all four with your real data, it genuinely supports multiple brokers. If it can only do the first two, you still have manual work ahead.
Watch how long each step takes as well. If it takes six clicks to move a trip between brokers, nobody will do it on a busy morning.
Ask About Your Brokers by Name
Generic answers cost you weeks during setup. Before you sign, get a written list of which of your brokers are connected, which need file imports, and which are not supported at all.
Then build that into your timeline, because broker connections are consistently the slowest part of any implementation.
One broker live and working beats three half-connected. Get the biggest one clean first, then add the others.
